MOSFET (METAL OXIDE SEMICONDUCTOR EIELD EFFECT TRANSISTOR)
two type of mosfets 1) p-channel mosfet 2) n-channel mosfet
recognizing of n -channnel , p- channnel MOSFET through digital multimeter.
step 1 we have turn on digital multimeter 2k ohms resistance
step 2 keep the digital multimeter red probe at DRAIN and black probe at SOURCE if multi meter reading showing 240 ohm's
step 3 After keeping black probe at DRAIN and red probe at SOURCE if digital multimeter is showing 240 ohm's to 960 ohm's then this MOSFET is N- channel MOSFET.
Testing of MOSFET
good MOSFET multimeter does not show any continuity between gate to drain lead and gate lead to source .
if its shows any continuity then MOSFET is short.
if continuity is shown both sides of drain terminal to source terminal, and source to drain thenthat MOSFET is short.
if continuity is not shown in both of drain to source, and source to drain then that MOSFET is open.
if continuity is shown in one side of drain to source, and one side does not show continuity then that MOSFET is ok.
characteristics of MOSFET
The FET is a unipolar device. A FET exhibits a high input impedance and is less noisy that BJT.
A FET is a voltage controlled device while A BJT is a current controlled device while a BJT is a current controlled device.
