This is a CMOS RAM onboard that has a power supply from an external battery to keep the information of system configuration. with the CMOS RAM, the computer or laptop can automatically start OPERATING SYSTEM every time it is turned ON. if this external battery not working CMOS date/time not set , CMOS setting wrong error appears in starting screen. for that problem wee have to replace 3v , CR 2032 Lithium battery. it is commonly used in most of the mainboard.
REPLACING CMOS BATTERY
Switch off the computer and remove the AC power supply cable. remove the computer unit's cover. and then remove the battery from the holder and slide in a new battery of the same model and type in the holder. make sure that it is in correct orientation. once the battery replaced, close cover, switch on the computer and run the setup to configure the system. after setting date and time and configuration save it. now system start (boot) without interrupt.
if you want to clear the system configuration. set jumper to clear configuration. after replacing battery also still getting CMOS ERRORS clean the battery connectors in the holder check is there any rust in the connector, if it's ok then check jumper setting normal position or not , if not then set it normal position. restart the system.
